Thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday. Growing up, I loved the days off school. Now, I like having a day off from everything. In college and grad school, when I wasn't able to go home, I invited myself over to friends' houses because I couldn't bear to spend the holiday without a family, even if it wasn't mine.
One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is that just about everyone spends the day in a similar way: cooking, eating, and lounging with family and friends. I loved this piece about how "traditional" Thanksgiving dishes, like turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie, share the table with dishes like Kurdish eprax, Venezuelan pan de jamon or German red cabbage. Or the turkey is stuffed with egg roll filling and pumpkin flan replaces pumpkin pie.
I hope you're enjoying the day with people you care about and delicious things to eat!
