Books Maree Martinez Loves
Maree fell in love with Shakespeare as a 10-year-old, and requested the Complete Works of Shakespeare for Christmas that year. She also said,
"All-time most influential books for me are Pride and Prejudice (hated having to read it for sophomore English summer reading- right up until the moment [redacted because major spoiler] and was hooked after that) and Their Eyes Were Watching God. Unfortunately I don't get to read nearly as much as I used to, but my tastes are quite mixed. Right now, I'm reading a (nonfiction) book called The Irregulars, which is about Roald Dahl's spy work in wartime D.C. On the fiction front I'm still in love with the Hunger Games series and can reread them any day of the week."
Maree Martinez fell in love with Shakespeare at ten, then thought she might be a historical consultant on films, before deciding to leave her PhD program at Cambridge because what she really wanted to do was teach. After teaching history at a middle school, she moved with her family to Toronto, where she noticed signs of the city's film production as she explored with her son. She wondered who taught the kids on those sets, and soon enough, she was.
